Trapiche Interactive Museun

Los Mochis, Sinaloa, México

2016

A Museum that positions the value of learning in the community.

Trapiche was created as part of a great project from entrepreneurs and citizens who sought to turn Los Mochis into a "city of learning" and become part of the existing global network. As a result, the Museum was born with the mission of positioning the value of learning within the community and establishing a new cultural dynamic that integrates various areas of knowledge and creation. Through its diverse exhibitions, Trapiche promotes the construction of citizenship and fosters a sense of belonging and affection for the city; it also develops scientific, critical and creative thinking in its diverse audiences.

We conceptualized Trapiche as a hybrid museum, since it focuses on three different age groups. As a result, each hall is designed according to the interests and needs of a particular type of visitor. The Explorers Room is a space focused on developing the skills of children between zero and five years of age, just like a Children's Museum; the Creators Room is a space for elementary school children designed to present permanent exhibits with updatable content; while the Connoisseurs Room is designed as a Science Museum that operates as a Temporary Exhibitions Hall with flexible equipment capable of changing its entire content to topics such as Health, Energy, Technology or the Environment.
