Acertijo, Interactive Museum
Gómez Palacio, Durango, Mexico
2016
A Museum created under a dynamic model.
Acertijo Museo Interactivo Laguna Durango is located in the most productive region of Durango and was created in response to the success of its capital city's own interactive museum, making Durango the first state in Mexico to have two children's museums. Considering that the lagoon region has a limited offer for children and their families, we conceptualized the Museum under a dynamic contents model that offers permanent exhibits on the first level while on the second one, they can be adapted and changed to a particular theme, such as climate change, energy, values, or art. By offering new content each time, this concept seeks to increase repeat visitors.
For this project, we used existing furniture as reinvented exhibits and complemented them with new proposals. To achieve this, we adjusted the contents to the available furniture, generated an attractive graphic identity that would unify criteria, and established flexible but contemporary design typicals to update it.
The community actively participated: through their vote, the children of the city chose its name; Universidad Juárez de Durango participated in the development of the concepts and contents; and most of the workforce and supplies were hired locally.
